Mystery beadsSubmitted by: Janet |
|
PLEASE HELPOkay, this looks primitive. The "beads" are glass, but actually look handmade, like thumb-pressed. Someone said the claw-like things are probably seeds. It is very heavy. The longer strand is about 28" and the "beads" range around 1" in diameter. I have no idea where to list, how to identify it. Any ideas? Submit your estimate of worth |

PLEASE HELPThis is an apx. 5" tall by 4" wide black and white Cocker Spaniel figurine. He has an arched eye (guilty / pleading / "I love you") upward look on his face and a light blue collar with a yellow tag. He is sitting and leaning a bit to his right. The bottom is inscribed STAEHLE with a stylized W (or possibly AA or VV). From an internet search, he appears to be a Staehle's Butch figure, and looks quite like the National Dog Week poster from 1950. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Normandie Iridescent Bouquet & Lattice GlasswareSubmitted by: Bonnie & Jonathan |
|
PLEASE HELPWe have 26 pieces of Normandie Iridescent glassware that I found tucked away in a cupboard when I moved into my husband's home. It had not seen the light of day for many years and he had only a hunch that it had any value. I've researched the Depression-era glass and know that it was made from 1933 to 1939 by the Federal Glass Co. The iridescent was not as popular as the pink but it has a beautiful opalescence. Websites show wildly varied prices for the various pieces. We desire to sell it but have had no luck through more common sites. There are six 9" luncheon plates (these seem to be rare), two 6" sherbet/bread plates, two cup and saucer sets, four additional cups, five 5" berry bowls, four 6.5" cereal bowls, and one fruit bowl. The pieces have no apparent cracks or chips but they do have a coating of grime that came off of two pieces when I soaked them in vinegar. A popular website for completing partial tableware settings valued the pieces (in excellent condition) at $159.00. I cannot seem to get half that and intend to try and sell on your website. Hi Bonnie & Jonathan,
Depression glass was very inexpensive when it was sold in the late 1920's to the early 1940's. In fact, sometimes companies would give it away for free to spark interest in their business. As you've found out, the antique and collectible market is very soft right now. And the prices that dealers could easily obtain for antiques and collectibles a few years ago are now unattainable. I would value your depression glass in the $50-75 dollar range. Here's a similar set that sold for $46 dollars: 23pc Depression glass set |
