My guess would be that it was used in bar? As far as worth, I would say it's probably worth around $25-50 dollars. |

WWII Down Comforter and Curtains from Q-Mary Hospital ShipSubmitted by: Tracy |
|
PLEASE HELPI have an authentic feather-down comforter and matching curtains from the 'crew ward" off the Queen Mary Luxury Liner Ship that was converted into a Hospital Ship during WWII. The comforter is a rich gold colored cotton measuring 80"x80". It is in EXCELLENT condition: no tears, rips or major staining. The 2 matching curtain panels measure 50"x80" each and are also in EXCELLENT condition. The top seam of each curtain where the original hooks are sewed into is stamped "Q-MARY HOSPITAL CREW WARD" and has medical item class I.D. numbers stamped on the seams. Upon further research, I traced these items to the Queen Mary Ship docked in Long Beach, CA..The family's Estate where these items were stored lived in Los Angeles from 1930's through the 1960's. They were very sympathetic the War efforts during WWII and probably held nursing positions on the ship. These 3 pieces are very unique and remind Americans of a rarely known fact about our cruise liners doubling as hospital ships for our troops and civilians. I greatly appreciate any and all opinions and appraisals. Please feel free to call me @ (702)328-2197 and/or email me @ haynes.tracy@yahoo.com anytime. Submit your estimate of worth |

Hello I am the daughter of this artist and these paintings are worthe several hundred dollars now. My mother died this year so the worth of these paintings are sure to go up. She was a school teacher in Oakland California for most of her life after my parents moved there in the 50's from Porterville, Ca. She was a Junior High teacher part time and an artist full time taking up most of aour kitchen with her paintings when I was growing up. She passed due to altzheimers many months ago in Danville, Ca. The owls were her signature painting and I am sure this is the subject she will be remembered for most. |

PLEASE HELPI have a Diebold safe with a time lock in it. The safe is 52" H and 44.5" wide. Inside the safe the top half is just a regular door but the bottom half is a time lock. The time lock says Sargent and Greenleaf with patent dates of 7-20-1875, 9-25-1877, 8-7-1877 and 11-13-1877. The safe had Deibold, Canton OH on the left hand side and Buzzell and Blair on the right hand side. The building was built around this safe and we are going to tear the building down this summer. The safe itself is in great shape with all parts being present other than the glass on the time clock is broke. It's been inside a heated building so there is no rust or corrosion on anything. I believe the Ele McDonald who painted this may have been an art teacher at Montera Middle School in Oakland, California in the late sixties or early seventies. I have a similar painting titled "4 On a High Wire". Yours should be titled on the back, along with the words "Pure Acrylic" and it's likely painted on wood. As for the value, it's extremely hard to say until more is known about the artist. Your painting and mine are the only examples of this artist's work that I've ever seen. | |

Hello. The artist that created this artwork of these owls is my late mother Ele McDonald. She created many of these paintings and showed them in carmel, Red bug gallery north of SF and all around the bay area. She started painting these owls in the late 60's and this appears to be one of the first of them. I suppose it is worth several hundred dollars. They sold for about 500.00 for a 3"x4" size and up. She painted up until she developed altzheimers in the early 2000's and passed this year in Danvill,Ca. several months ago. I have a house full of her art work but only 1 of these special owl paintings. I hope you will cherish your painting for a good long time. I hope she is always remembered by these cute. whimsical owl paintings she is known for. Just to add. It is raised by white glue and then colored by acrylic paints. She was allergic to oils. |
